Project overview

A saturated red background bounces into the skin and into the hair edge, so the subject and the backdrop drift toward the same colour and the outline goes soft.

Transformation details

The red bounce was removed from the skin selectively, leaving the background at full saturation.
The hair edge was cleaned strand by strand where the red had bled into it, rebuilding the outline rather than masking it.
Skin was worked with frequency separation and light dodge and burn along the cheek and jaw.
The beaded garment was given a small local contrast lift so its detail survives against the dark background.
