Two-Subject Studio Tone Match

Retouching

A landscape two-subject frame is balanced so both skin tones and both jackets read correctly under one light.

Project overview

Two very different skin tones and two very different garment colours in one frame. A correction that suits one usually spoils the other, and the cream jacket is easy to push grey.

Transformation details

  • The two subjects were corrected separately and then reconciled against a single neutral reference, rather than corrected together and then split.

  • The cream jacket was held just off white so it keeps its material rather than clipping.

  • The black leather was opened up in the shadows so its texture survives.

  • A light skin pass on both, matched in strength so one does not look more finished than the other.
