Project overview

Effects-heavy frames fail when the effect is in front of the subject rather than around them. The capture is a clean, well-lit pose with nothing to interact with, so every interaction has to be built.

Transformation details

The fire was built to wrap behind the extended arm and in front of the trailing one, which is what puts the subject inside the effect instead of behind a layer of it.
The body was relit from the fire's position, warm on the leading side and cooler on the shadow side.
A zodiac ring was placed on its own plane at a slight angle so it reads as a real object in space rather than an overlay.
The wardrobe was recoloured to a cool blue, giving the frame a complementary reading against the fire.
