Project overview

There is one capture, and the concept needs three subjects at different depths. Repeating a photograph three times reads as a copy unless each instance is lit and scaled as a separate object.

Transformation details

  • The three placements were decided first — one raised, two flanking — so the composition was set before any of them was built.

  • Each instance was scaled and relit independently: the raised one carries the strongest light, the flanking pair fall off with distance.

  • The plinths were built as one set with a shared floor and shared shadows, which is what turns three copies into one scene.

  • The grade holds a single warm red across the whole set so the three read as one object family.
