Project overview

The set edge and the floor join are both in shot, and the background falls off unevenly toward the corners. Lifting it all to white flattens the subject unless the subject is protected first.

Transformation details

The background was taken to an even high key with the subject masked out, so none of the lift reached the skin.
The platform edge and floor join were rebuilt rather than cropped, keeping the full-length composition.
Skin was evened and the tone rebalanced away from the grey the original floor was bouncing into it.
Props in frame were cleaned and their colour brought into one family.
