Project overview
The studio frame is lit flat and cool from the front. The concept is backlit golden hour. That is not a colour adjustment — the light in the capture is coming from the wrong place, and a warm grade alone would produce an orange picture with studio lighting inside it.
Transformation details
The background was built first so the sun position was fixed before anything else was decided.
The subject was relit with a warm rim along the shoulder and the arm nearest the sun, and the original frontal light was pulled down so it reads as bounce rather than as a key.
An animal was placed at the same distance as the subject and given the same rim, then a shared ground shadow was drawn so both sit on one plane.
Atmospheric haze was added between the foreground and the tree line, which is what stops a composite looking like two sharp layers.
